Review: Just An Illusion Side B

Just An Illusion – The B Side (Illusion Series – Book 2)

Cover Design: Regina Wamba / Mae I Design and Photography

Release Date: March 30, 2017

Three life-altering months …   That’s how long it’s been since Amelia Greyson joined the Just an Illusion Tour with Bastards and Dangerous. She’s made new friends, embraced her past, and even found love.   Back on the road …   Following a tragic situation, Amelia is determined to hit the road, put her life in order, and finish the book she was hired to write. Mel’s not the only one affected by what happened; the men of BAD are all trying to move forward, not wanting the past to ruin the remainder of their farewell tour.   Brother vs Brother …   Tensions are high on the Weston brothers’ bus. As each brother settles into their role in Amelia’s life, secrets threaten to rip their relationship to shreds. Can Noah and Sawyer find a way to save the brotherly bond they share? Or will the woman of their dreams end up tearing them apart for good?

The woman did it again. She done left me in suspense AND crying my eyes out.

When we open the book, we find out that Mel has survived the attack on her and Noah and after holding my breath for a chapter, we find out that Noah survived as well. However, we are immediately stumped by who is giving Mel an ultimatum early in the story. We follow along with Bastards and Dangerous (BAD) as they restart their farewell tour through the memories of Mel as she is writing to finish her inside story on the band.

Mel is reluctant, to say the least, to write but her deadline is quickly approaching and despite what has happened and what it is she must make a decision about (and who will receive the answer) the clock is ticking.

We are immediately caught up in the spell D. Kelly weaves as Mel, documenting the band as faces more deranged fans, personal demons, happiness beyond measure and a tragedy so out of the blue, I had to immediately email her and ask what the hell! Of course, she pled the fifth and said all will be answered in EP, the third and final book of the Just an Illusion trilogy.

If you haven’t read Just an Illusion Side A, get out there and do it now so you can pick up this book, a pack of tissue and tell your loved ones to leave alone until you’re done.

So as Belle would say, till next time Slammers and don’t forget live today as there is no tomorrow xoxo

Just an Illusion – EP is coming June 21, 2017

Review: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany, and Jack Thorne

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

Darkness came from unexpected places indeed! Child #2 saw this book in his school library and checked it out just for me. He did it on a day that had to absolute squat and just that small gesture made me feel so much better. I sat down after the kids had gone to bed and began to read. I had made it 3/4th of the way through before I realized it was 2am and I had to get up in five hours so I could take them to school. I was truly upset that it wasn’t one of those times when my insomnia kicked in and would have allowed me to stay awake and still functional the next day.

Lucky I forgot that it was now Saturday, so no school, but I did get to sleep a bit longer before taking #1 to work. When I got back #2 was awake and I knew there would be no further reading until he was asleep.

Back into, it only took me a little over an hour to finish. I was pleased that it wasn’t as hard to read (script format) as some as my friends posted when they first got it. I was able to feel the characters emotions and was truly shocked about who was revealed as the cursed child.

It did make me sit back for a minute and do the math but I realized my error and all was good. I do hope that J.K Rowling writes this in true novel form and would give anymore insight. Definitely adding this to my to be purchased list and I hope you do too.

5cupreviewEasy read, will keep you captivated. 5 cups!

Review: A Raven’s Touch by Linda Bloodworth

There is a GRAPHIC suicide in this story and there is VIOLENCE. The heroine is going to kill things since she is a demon slayer.

Bullied through high school, seventeen-year-old Justice St. Michaels is grateful for the help of her best friend Moira O’Fhey. Their only wish is to graduate high school, leave the sleepy town of Fallingbrook and all that happened behind them. The Heavens have other plans. Between growths on her back and being involved in explosive school fights, nothing seems to make sense. When an unexpected encounter with Darien Raventhorn causes worlds to collide it exposes the truth about Justice’s real identity. To avenge a family death, Justice must embrace her birthright, and slay a demon before all Hell breaks loose.

A Raven’ Touch is filled with non-stop action, this can be a tad overwhelming as the reader is trying to process all of the emotions that character’s are going through. Especially within the first five minutes of the book. As a debut novel, Linda was able to keep my attention and her development of the MC, Justice, was done nearly flawlessly. Looking forward to her next book.

Linda Bloodworth loves chips, like really, ketchup to be exact. Ketchup chips are only found in Canada. Lucky for Linda she lives in Toronto with her husband and three fur babies. In between writing, debating for hours about the Oxford comma, and the misunderstood semicolon; Linda enjoys camping and getting away from the city on day trips.

Review: Concealing Fire by Siera London

Dallas Fire & Rescue firefighter, Kendall Raine goes out of her way to avoid male attention. She’s focused on salvaging her career, and the temporary assignment to Key West’s Historic District Firehouse is just the opportunity she’s been waiting for. Unfortunately for Kendall, her hot as sin teammate threatens her focus and stokes an internal fire she thought long extinguished.

Firefighter and former Marine, Cutler Stevens sees beyond Kendall’s disguise the moment he lays eyes on her. As a former Marine, his fighting days are behind him, but gut instinct tells him this woman could use a champion on her side. Cutler likes his life easy and his women uncomplicated, but attraction and curiosity spark a deep desire to uncover what Kendall is desperately trying to hide.

After mother nature forces them together, they surrender to the burning passion between them. Cutler knows one night with Kendall in his arms will never be enough, even if she won’t admit it.

Just when Kendall accepts Cutler as a permanent part of her life, they are both tested when her past follows her to the southernmost point of the United States. How far will Cutler go when he discovers what Kendall is prepared to do to preserve her newfound freedom? Will their decisions protect their newfound love or unveil a secret that will consume them both?

WARNING: This novel contains some domestic violence flashbacks, may not be suitable for all readers as my cause triggers. Recommend for ages 18+

I could not stop reading this book once I started it. Siera was able to pull me in from the first few paragraphs and had me wondering what in the world was I going to get into. Kendall shows upconcealing-fire2 for her new assignment in Key West, Florida on the worst possible day. Everyone has hunkered down for a huge storm and unless she wants to spend the next few days in the airport, she’s going to need some help.

Cutler is irritated as all get out that he has to go rescue the new guy, but when he finds out the new man on his crew is actually a woman, his attitude turns around instantly.

Kendall is affected by the instant chemistry as well but has instituted a ‘no men’ policy. She’s just gotten away from her abuse ex and she isn’t ready to lay her heart on the table again.

Siera takes a difficult subject and shows it’s gritty side without going too deeply into details, but giving the reader just to know the hell that Kendall has been knew and why Cutler is the breath of fresh ocean air that she needs (her grandma agrees)!
